Hopefully you have found times when you were able to delight in God. Choose a word or phrase and spend some time thinking deeply about what it says and what it means. For me, two contrasting phrases stand out and speak loudest to me. I have spent a considerable amount of time in recent months studying the phenomena of despair and the state of depression. Life expectancy in the United States has declined for three consecutive years. The rate of deaths of despair is massively increasing. Despair can kill a person.
Hell is where people find themselves when they are living without hope. The absence of hope is despair. When a person lives without a meaningful hope for the future it is soul destroying. As I see it, as followers of Jesus Christ we are called to be agents of hope who are called to share that hope with a world of people who are in despair. In a world in despair and hopelessness we bring with us a message of hope and with that, the opportunity to bring people into a state of shalom or peace. People need not live in alienation from God, from others or from themselves.
People can be reconciled to God, to others and selves. They can be made whole. God, I want to continue to be one who lives life with a hopeful future. Whatever your meditation brings up, bring that to God in prayer. Am I living life out of the deep well of hope? In what ways do you still want me to seek peace in my home, in my church, in my workplace, in my neighborhood and community, in my country and in this world? Rest in God. Living as a peacemaker and an agent of hope in this divided and despair filled world can be spiritually and emotionally as well as physically exhausting at times.
This concludes our slow and deep reading of Psalm We have divided the 40 verse Psalm into 7 smaller sections and, within each section we have read, meditated, prayed and rested in God. I hope that you have come to appreciate how this form of reading and praying the Bible can deeply enrich your spiritual life as you seek to serve God. The big three are faith, hope and love.
Chapter three is all about growing stronger in faith. Esther and I have been watching all the very small things God has been doing through each day to show His love to us. Things such as sending rain after the baptism tonight instead of during. Things such as the enormous peace in the stone chapel as we prayed very early in the morning. Application: As Christians, we can endure all persecution, and still have faith God loves us as we obtain perfect peace with both God and other friends. Romans is my favorite book of the Bible due to the sheer amount of truth, enlightenment and encouragement that is contained within.
Pages and pages can be written on any given chapter within Romans, but I plan to touch on only one or two or three portions of each chapter I am covering. Romans chapter 8 is right in the middle of this amazing book, and it should be an amazing encouragement to any believer who is struggling with the weight of life. Have any of you watched the news any time recently? Our world is fallen, and sinful behavior thrives in this fallen world.
We can see the adverse effects of living in a fallen world on a day to day basis within our own lives. We are reminded in this chapter that all of creation groans and waits in eager expectation to be made perfect and freed from the bondage of decay. Me too! Much worse, I have seen loved ones pass away as a result of their bodies failing. But that will all end!

1 John 4:7&8
But that will all end! We will be made perfect in the coming Kingdom! That is the hope talked about in this section, and it is a hope that can not be taken from us. Until that day comes, be encouraged, fellow believers, in the words Paul shares here.
Maranatha! Kids - Beloved (1 John &8) | Play on Anghami
That is one of the best lines in all of scripture in my humble opinion. What God has put in motion is unstoppable. Yes, we all face hardships in this fallen world today, until we are made perfect in the Kingdom. But we have a certain hope in that coming day, and nothing can take that hope away or prevent that day from coming.
Likewise, these momentary troubles can not separate us from the love of Christ. It feels great to be hupernikao. That is what we are intended to be with God and Christ on our side. Finally, this chapter concludes with more incredible encouragement in regards to the possibility of being removed from the love of God:. I hope that is as encouraging for you as it is for me. Take these passages to heart. Remember them when the world seems to be against you.
And nothing can take that, or His future promise for you, away. At this time of year, I usually think about the resolutions that I want to make and mine usually include some method of time management so I have time for the people and things that I truly love. I love the scriptures. Because through these scriptures God reveals who He is and He is amazing. The Bible is a message from God.
This message is essential for every human being. After all we are created in His image so it makes sense that He wants us to understand what life is truly about. He also explains why He created us in the first place. What purpose we should fulfill as we live out this life as His children. He also provides us with the message of our future, our hope. The scriptures explain why God gave us His Son and what Jesus did and said.
God explains how we can receive some present blessings while we patiently wait for future rewards including immortality in His Kingdom. Why does God offer us all of this? He loves us.

But we need to be constantly reminded because while we face the struggles of life, we can forget that message of love. Christ warned us that in the last days because of the increase of wickedness, that the love of most will grow cold Matthew , but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. So how do we keep our love for others and God strong? Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
